FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT EXPERIENCE DO I NEED?
This will depend on the position applied for:
Homecare roles – you don’t necessarily need experience just a caring and compassionate outlook.
Support workers/healthcare assistants – you will need a minimum of 6 months paid experience in a similar role
Qualified Nurses – you will need to have passed your preceptorship and be able to provide clinical references in your current field.
DO I NEED A CAR FOR HOMECARE WORK?
Whilst a car is beneficial (as you will be travelling to different clients in the local area), it isn’t essential – as long you are prepared to do some walking. Our homecare is in a targeted area and therefore should allow our staff to walk between visits.
WHAT TRAINING WILL IN NEED?
If you are new to care – we would take you through the care certificate (using our online provider to deliver the theory) and then supervisions will be done by our care team.
All staff are required to undertake annual mandatory training which can be provided by our approved training company.
DO I NEED A DBS (DISCLOSURE AND BARRING CERTIFICATE?
YES – all staff MUST hold an enhanced DBS.
If you currently hold a DBS certificate which is registered online (and contains the wording CHILD & ADULT workforce) we will be able to check online that it is valid. In order to do this we MUST see the original certificate and you must consent to us using the DBS checking service.
If you currently DON’T hold a DBS certificate, you will be asked to complete a DBS application after your interview. The current cost of an enhanced certificate is £52.00.
WHAT IF I HAVE A CONVICTION?
A conviction will not necessarily exclude you from working with us. It will depend on the type of conviction, the date of the conviction and mitigating factors. We advise anyone with a conviction to talk to us before applying for the DBS certificate. You may be asked to provide to a written statement regarding the conviction to allow us to make an unbiased decision.
